Welcome to the Letchworth and Hitchin Chess Club.

We meet at Plinston Hall, located on Broadway in the centre of Letchworth Garden City at 7.30 p.m. on Monday evenings during the season (mid‑September to mid-May each year) and make alternate arrangements during the summer months, usually at a local Hostelry!

No matter how strong (or otherwise!) your chess is, we shall be pleased to see you ... our members encompass all abilities, from beginners through to strong club players. You can come along to simply enjoy a game in the club or, if you're brave enough, participate in one of the teams that we run in the Hertfordshire Chess Association League.

In addition to playing league games we run a number of other activities: the Club Championship, teams in various competitions and The Letchworth One-Day Chess Congress, which is one of the major events of the year in the Hertfordshire Chess calendar.


We also enjoy playing other variations of chess, Kreigsspeil being a particular club favourite!
